Peter was a Stoker on board HMT Cape Warwick.
On 1 January 1940 the London Gazette announced the award of the Distinguished Service Medal to Stoker Peter Crawford. The award was for:
'unfailing courage, endurance and resource in HM Trawlers, Drifters and Minesweepers in their hard and perilous task of sweeping the seas clear of enemy mines, and combatting submarines.'
