J Peter Crawford-Wood served in the Royal Flying Corps.

On 23 October 1917
Temporary Probationary Flight Sub Lieutenant J P Crawford-Wood was killed in a flying accident while undergoing pilot training at RNAS Eastchurch. His observer K L C Oxhey was also killed.

The aircraft they were flying was either an Avro 504G N5310 or a Be2c, 9465.

Temporary Probationary Flight Sub Lieutenant J P Crawford-Wood is buried at Alkerton (St Michael) Churchyard.

Only surviving son of J Crawford-Wood, Alkerton House, near Hanbury, Oxfordshire.
