Albert Victor Crawford served with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.
On 7 August 1942 Albert was commisioned Acting Pilot Officer on probation as per the London Gazette dated 27 October 1942.
On 7 February 1943 Albert was promoted to the rank of Flying Officer as per the London Gazette dated 19 March 1943.
Albert served with 50 Squadron piloting Lancasters.
On 15 June 1943 Albert took off on a sortie from Skellingthorpe to Oberhausen. While flying over enemy territory his Lancaster was shot down by a nightfighter flown by Uffz Rudolf Frank from 2/NJG3 and crashed at Ekeren, 8km from Antwerpen at 01.24hrs.
