-Crashz Baja Bug Page-
My 1969 VW Baja came to me by ways of my girlfriend in the summer of 2001. As soon as i got it i started restoring its wiring and brakes, then sanded and primered, it took me quite abit to get it to where it is in the picture to the left. It came to me with bad brakes, bad wiring, froze up motor and a shoddy tranzaxle. I sanded it, then gave it a clean layer of primer. Put in a used 1600 dualport and some bfg's in the rear. The motor was on its way out as i was to rebuild and replace with a type 3 conversion soon. With some neat bolt ons. I tell ya when i got this little gem with an original sunroof and straight body, it took alot to get it roadworthy once again. But that winter i put it back into a comfortable running condition.
This next pic is of my buggy Betsy getting ready for a new motor in the winter of 2003 just at the beginning of the year, the car has been sitting for 2 monthes awaiting the new 1600 longblock that i had been getting toether for it. Its sitting there next to it pretty much bare of everything except the clutch assembly , as for the car i added plenty more primer and used flat black to do some off tone coloring, added new 7.5 x 15 inch rims to the front with Wildcat ext 215x75.r15 to accompany the BFG mudterrain 30xr15 rear tires. A nice Black buggy visor did wonders for the look and driving ability of the car. That day was freezing but i was set on getting that motor in and button up. So i started with cleaning everything up and getting everything layed out . Next i collected the tools neccessary and had a smoke and read up abit to refresh myself on exactly it all was that i was attempting to do, for this was not just an ordinary install but more of a freak conversion of my buggy to have a type 3 1600 dualport motor and some neat bolt on goodies. A converted fuel injection rail setup with a weber 2 barrel progressive carb and dual exhaust. Not to mention a pretty Darn good sounding stereo system.
