Some of My Poetry

The Black Book: Poetry of Thought
My first publication of poetry from back in 2001. They mostly contain the thoughts after leaving home after graduating high school in 1998 and contain many of my first forays into poetry.

Some Scattered Poems

Some samples of my published poetry and some other pieces.

The 2002 Tarleton Anthology

I won the award for outstanding poet this year at Tarleton State University for my poems “Marrakesh” “Here,” and “The Force.” The first line of the second stanza in “Marrakesh” should read “Are you thinking there baby,” not “Are the thinking there baby.”

The 2003 Tarleton Anthology

Three of my poems were selected for this year’s publication, rather dark ones: “Contempt,” “Damnation,” and “Pretty Delilah.” They butchered my middle name.

The 2004 Tarleton Anthology

This year’s edition celebrated the tenth year of the Anthology’s publication and contained both past pieces and new pieces. New poems I contributed were, “Entropy and Whiskey,” and “Ouroboros.” A piece from 2002, “Marrakesh,” is still misprinted. You think they would have fixed that.

The 2005 Tarleton Anthology

Again three of my poems were selected for publication at Tarleton. “Bookstore Cafι: Fort Worth, Texas,” actually they misspell it “Forth Worth,” no such place, then there is “Gravity,” and “The Ides of May

The 2006 Tarleton Anthology

I submitted eight poems for consideration this year, as it would be my last year at Tarleton State University.  Seven were accepted: “Cigarette,” “Barbara Lopez,” “The Problem (2005),” “Bookstore Transcendentalism,” “Selfish,” “Meredith in the Arms of Another,” and “Sundance Square  The eighth was a bit of a joke.  Entitled “Judge This a Poem: An Ode to Stanley Fish,” it was just a list of nine professors.  Look up Stanley Fish at Wikipedia if you don’t get the joke.
