Chapter 6

The plane arrived early morning. Mark walked off the plane, becoming extremely nervous. He wandered around the air terminal with no idea on what to do.

Hey Mike! a girls name yelled out. He looked over to her direction.

Hey Kelly. He said as she ran up to him.

Oh I missed you so much. Its so good to have you back home. She said as she let go of him. She took a step back to get a better look at him.

Theres something different about you.

Marks eyes widened. Huh? What are you talking about? Im just plain ol Mike. He said hoping she would forget about what she was thinking about.

I guess you grew taller since youve been gone for so long. She said as she wrapped her arm around his shoulder. He laughed.

Maybe. Lets go home. He said as they walked out the airport entrance.

After an hour drive, they finally arrived to the house. Once Mark walked out of the car, he couldnt believe his eyes. T house looked almost exactly like the one in L.A.

Wow, he said under his breath. Kelly walked up behind him, carrying his bags.

Come on, your dads waiting. She said as she gave him a little push.

-In L.A.-

What! An accident? When! Mike exclaimed.

A few days ago. She was driving home late at night and her car was hit by this drunk driver. Rob said. Come on, we got to go to the hospital so she can see you.

Great. The first time I get to see my mom, I have to see her in a hospital bed.

An hour later, they arrived at the hospital. Mike walked into her room and saw her lying there asleep. He never imagined seeing his mother like this. Just then, she stirred. She slowly opened her eyes and a smile crept on her face.

Hey you. Welcome back. She said, her voice hoarse from sleep. He walked over to her bedside.

Hi mom. How you holding up? Mike asked. She opened her arms and he went into them.

Oh baby Im fine. Just a bruise here and there, nothing to worry about. She smiled as she touched his hair. I like this.

Even though Mike had only met her a few minutes ago, he could already see right through her.

Thank mombut what is it really? I know youre only saying that so you wont worry me. Just tell me the truth, I can handle it.

Ok ok. I had surgery on my right leg yesterday and I have a little head trauma. Nothing new to me.

What are you talking about? This happened before? Mike asked confused. Britney gave him a weird and puzzled look.

Yeah sweetie. I was referring to my knee surgery and that little accident I had with the camera falling on my head. You know about those. She said. Mike sighed.

Oh yeahthose. Great way to reveal yourself dumbass. He leaned down and gave her another hug. Im just glad that youre ok.

Thank you baby. I feel a lot better now that youre home. She said and kissed him on the cheek. He smiled.

After a few minutes, he walked out of the room so she could rest. While he was in the waiting room, he thought about what Mark and his dad could be doing. Thats when he remembered.

Shoot! I have to get to a phone!
