At the conclusion of the hearing at the Portland, Oregon site on June 6, the Administrative Law Judge set the final dates for interested persons to file proposed findings and conclusions or written arguments and briefs based on the evidence received at the hearing as follows:

  • Order Authority and Regulations: Marketing order authorizes volume control through producer allotments. A marketable quantity and allotment percentage is in effect for the 2000-2001 crop year, which began on September 1, 2000, and ends on August 31, 2001.  
  • Research and Promotion: The order also authorizes production research and marketing research and development activities.  The Committee is currently conducting several marketing development projects.
  • The order was promulgated in 1962 and was last amended under formal rulemaking on August 27, 1992.
  • Budget: The 1999-2000 budget of $548,231 is based on an assessment rate of .04 per barrel of cranberries.

Committee Structure:

  • The eight-member Cranberry Marketing Committee, including one public member, administers the program locally. Each member has an alternate. Four of the eight members represent Ocean Spray, the industry's largest cooperative and handler. The two-year terms are staggered and begin August 1. Producer members and handler members are nominated by nomination meetings and mail balloting for one district.
