ok, the first thing you need is a tank, get a tank two times as long as your mill. and about as wide as your millipede. I would get something at least 2ft x 1ft. this is because your mill will be about 12 inches long. make sure to have plenty of hiding space. Use bark from a tree. MAKE SURE it doesent contain carpenter ants. you need substrate, use ordinary potting soil. stick it in the microwave for about 10 minutes. this is to kill all harmefull organisms that live in the soil. For food, you need fruit or a vegatable. I would get a cucumber. giant blacks seem to like it the most. (millipedes have very week mouth parts, they cant puncture a peel! you need to peel the peel off, for them) try to keep their diet the same, otherwise your mill may get sick! you need water for your blacks, use a sponge from a pet store and a small bowl. DO NOT get a sponge from a grocery store. they contain chemicals that WILL kill the pede! make sure you get a mister pedes love moist substrate. make sure the soils damp. not too damp, and always use distilled water. note: I will post breeding millipedes, ones mine do. |
