Draft

The date and time of the draft are to be determined.  Each team will have 3 minutes to make its selection.  There will be 16 rounds with 10 picks per round.  If the draft is going too slow, the time will be reduced to 2 minutes per pick.

The order of the draft will be determined sometime before the draft begins.  Everyone’s name will be thrown in a hat, and they will be picked out in a random order.  First name gets the tenth pick, last name gets first pick.  The draft will snake in an order that keeps everything fair.  In the second round, the first pick goes to the person who had the last pick in the first found.  A sheet will be given to everyone so it is easier to understand.

League Play

Each week you will go head to head with another team in the league.  You will play every team at least once, while some teams you will play twice.

Rosters will be sent to [email protected] as well as your opponent that particular week.  The roster deadline each week is one hour before kickoff of the first game.  This will usually mean Sunday at noon.

Exception: If there is a Thursday night game on any given week, you do not need to submit your full roster before Thursday night’s kickoff. If you wish to start a player or players on Thursday night you MUST send the commissioner as well as your opponent an e-mail indicating who you are starting one hour before Thursday night’s kickoff, no later. So, if you started a running back on Thursday night you now have three open roster spots for your running back and wide receivers on Sunday. You do need to start at least one running back or wide receiver every week.

I will send out an e-mail providing everyone’s starting lineups.  (If you are playing me in a particular week and have a problem with me seeing your roster before the deadline, tell me and I will give you mine first).

I will keep track of all statistics, and get them out to everybody as soon as possible.  Updates will be sent out on Monday nights, and final totals for each week will be completed and distributed by Tuesday night.

Loser Bowl

In week 15, the 7th ranked team will play the 10th ranked team and the 8th ranked team will play the 9th ranked team. The winners will square off the following week in our first ever Loser Bowl. The winner will actually receive a toilet seat with your name scripted on it with a red, black or blue sharpie. Your choice!

Transactions

Transactions are unlimited until the season starts.  Once the year begins, the first three transactions are free.  Thereafter, each trade or roster move will cost one dollar.  Transaction money goes to the MFFL champion at the end of the season.

If you wish to pick up a player from the free agent pool, you must send out an e-mail to everyone in the league informing them of who is being picked up and who is being dropped.  Free agents are taken on first come, first serve basis.  If an e-mail is not sent to the entire league, the transaction will not be valid.  Exception, if on any given day you do not have access to a PC, you may call any member of the league to issue an e-mail on your behalf. The e-mail shall contain the owners name and who they are dropping and who they are picking up.

If teams wish to make a trade, each party should send an e-mail to [email protected]. Trades can not be done within 24 hours of the roster deadline or first game of the week. Most weeks it would be Saturday by noon. If a trade is done after that it does not go into effect until the FOLLOWING week.  Monday holidays shall be considered to be the current week. The trade will be posted on the following Tuesday if a trade is proposed on a holiday. This way the league gets a chance to veto a trade. This e-mail must contain whom you are trading, whom you are receiving, and any players you may have to drop. Remember that you can have a maximum of 2 quarterbacks, 4 running backs, 4 receivers/tight ends, 2 kickers, and 2 defenses on your roster at all times.  Therefore, if team A trades Peyton Manning for Marshall Faulk, they must drop a running back (who shall be named in the trade e-mail). If this is not done, the trade will be nullified.  If they choose, they can pick up a quarterback from the free agent list.  Once I have received an e-mail from all parties involved in the trade, I will send out a confirmation e-mail to everyone informing them of the deal.  Whenever a trade is deemed suspicious by anyone, a vote can be taken to allow the trade or not at the request of the suspicious party.  The suspicious party must notify the whole league within 24 hours of the trade to allow any kind of vote.   This is to prevent anyone from getting together and stocking one particular team and splitting profits at the end of the season.

Injured or Suspended players may be kept on your roster at no expense.  Therefore, if Edgerrin James goes on the IR, and you have him, you are allowed to pick up another running back without dropping anyone. This means that a player must be listed in the OUT category for that week’s injury report.  However, once he becomes active, you must drop a running back in order to meet the roster guidelines.

Trades and picking up players are considered transactions.  Dropping a player is not considered a transaction.  Also, a multi-player trade counts as only 1 transaction.  The trade deadline will be the Saturday of Week 10.  This is done to prevent stockpiling teams for the playoffs.

Waivers

All players dropped from a team's roster are immediately placed on waivers. During this waiver period (2 days), anyone in the league can claim the player except for the manager who dropped the player. If you wish to claim a player that is on waivers, an e-mail indicating who you are dropping and who you are picking up must be sent to [email protected]. Your subject header must contain the date the player is due to clear waivers. The content must contain who you are picking up and who you are dropping. In the event that two owners are competing for the same player, I will e-mail the owners the original e-mail that was sent from each.

So, if a player in the MFFL is dropped on a Wednesday afternoon, all managers can claim him until Friday at 11:59 pm PT. The player will then be assigned to their new team roughly four to eight hours after the claim deadline. Regardless of the time at which the claim is processed and the player was assigned to a team, all managers had their claims in by 11:59 pm PT.

Also, remember that waiver claims are processed according to the waiver claim priority list. Waiver claims are not processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

If more than one team claims the same player, the team that is highest on the Waiver Priority List is given the rights to the player. The priority list is initially set based on the reverse of the draft order. However, each time you add a waived player to your roster, you are pushed to the back of the list. This "rolling" list stays in effect for the entire season.

To find your current position in the waiver priority list, go to the MFFL website.

If nobody claims a player during the waiver period, he becomes a free agent.

If you place a player on waivers, you cannot reclaim that player until after the waiver period has expired.

Prizes

Entry fee to the league is $100.  While this may seem steep, it is the only way to make the prizes worthwhile, and it definitely keeps everyone’s interest for the entire year.  Everyone has a chance to win money with the way the prizes are set up.  It will not all go to one person.  Prize money will be distributed in the following manner:

Category I

Super Bowl Champion                                                  $400

Runner Up                                                                                $175

3rd Place (2nd round loser with better record)                $50

4th Place (2nd round loser with the lesser record)                      $50

Category II

Best QB                                   $25

Best RB                                   $25

Best WR                                  $25

Best TE                                    $25

Best Defense                            $25

Best Kicker                              $25

Best 1 Week Total                   $25

Category III

Longest TD Pass                      $25

Longest TD Run                       $25

Longest TD Catch                    $25

Longest Defensive TD  $25

Longest FG                              $25

Prizes for Categories II and III are based on who starts.  So, if Randy Moss catches a 94 yard touchdown in week 4, but you didn’t start him, that catch is not eligible for the prize money.  Also, to determine the top player at each position, a player’s points will be divided by the number of games his NFL team played in the first 14 weeks of the season.  This number will be 13 or 14.  But his point total is only from those games in which you started him. A player must be on your roster at the end of the season in order for you to win the prize for his position.  This means that every player is eligible at the end of our season, but his chances of winning decrease with every game he doesn’t start (for you).  The winner will be whoever has the highest average.  This is done so that someone with a huge score in week 1, but who is injured the rest of the season, doesn’t win the award.  It also discourages late season trades.
