| In Gaelic, Donnflaidh (pronounced DUN-flaith) means brown princess and looking at this lovely mare it is not hard to see how she got her name. With a dam who is directly descended from King Of Hearts and a sire who was a Scottish and Irish Hurdle Champion winner, French Group 2 winner and a champion hurdler, (Flat Timeform Rating 120 and Hurdlers and Chasers Rating 174) it is hardly surprising that this little mare has begs of potential. She is extremely quiet and very agile. Although she hasn't got the biggest jump she is very athletic. Her paces are wonderful and she comes across as a picture of grace and elegance. We have big hopes for this filly and feel she would make a brilliant showjumper. She is quick and clever. She is only 5 and already has walk to canter transitions and auto lead changes. Donny is a nice mare but can be extremely stubborn. Also, she finds it difficult to concentrate and therefore, needs time to mature. She will be entered in plenty of shows but only in halter classes and small dressage and jumping classes and only for experience. I do not feel she is ready for a major show schedule as she needs to settle down and grow up a bit first. The next couple of years are going to be more about having fun and gaining experience before she competes proffessionally. |
