| Around the stable, Cal is on the whole a very amiable and friendly horse. He has quickly discovered that if he whiffles your hair if you stop to say hello, he will get a lovely treat! He can be very cheeky but it is more mischief than bad temper. On the other hand, if Cal doesn't get his own way or is asked to do something in a lesson he doesn't want to he is apt to rear and buck. He isn't great with other horses either as he tried to bite and kick Dusk when they were out on the trails together. He likes being the centre of attention and refuses to share it with anyone. I think Cal's problem is that he is an extremely intelligent horse but because he is so clever he has a very low boredom threshold. you have to realise this very soon or it could cause problems. He needs to be kept occcupied with lots of toys and lots of riding, not just schooling but hacks as well. As Cal is a committee horse as opposed to a horse bred and raised to compete, a lot of ground work lies ahead. He has a nice jump and very smooth paces. He has shown an aptitude for showjumping and could do very well as he is big for his breed but a lot of schooling and learning lies ahead. Cal also has a beautiful pedigree and is a direct desendant of one of the most famous Russian Arabian stallions *Muscat. |
