DAY 2 Sunday morning- we awoke just as day was dawning then promptly went back to bed as it was far too early. But rise we did, and bacon rolls were followed by several visits to the now-functioning conveniences. We headed for Stac Pollaidh. This is a mountain with such a unique topography; our resident geographer could not contain himself, running up into the mist before the rest had wrestled a boot on between them. Alas, strong winds and driving showers prevented a visit to the airy summit; the group contented themselves with lunch in a nearby cave. A trip to Ullapool (and an uncharacteristically civilised tea and gateaux) was followed by a stop at Corrieshalloch Gorge before returning to the hostel where all the remaining food was duly cooked, served and shared. Unbeknown to them, the Craigie Crawlers had just invented the Camusnagaul Casserole. |
