CDS:04-Nov-1998 THE DEAR DEPARTED

A captive in the land of the unseen,

He realised, then, what had been told him.

How man may try to live his life clean

But be totally covered in wolrdly sin.

But far away in the land he had conquered:

He saw a small shining light.

It was a sign of hope for him

Yet, how to get to that light so bright?

He's fellow citizens did tell him about a "bridge"

For all whose souls are yearning,

Was through prayers of the true and faithful,

Dear brother is your beacon light burning?

When shall it be that we meet again

Will the sun be full or will it rain.

If the stars aren't shing and there ain't a moon;

It wouldn't matter, if we'd meet soon.

But I do want to know, "When shall we meet again?"

Sometimes it aches, to know that you had to go,

E'en before I told you that I love you so.

And my heart doth pine fore'er with you to be,

Yet, shall we only meet in the great eternity?

But I do want to know, "When shall we meet again?"

An outing with fellow brethren from our congregation

Let me be the one to decide my life

Let me be the one to attain what I love

Amongst the people of this world confusion is rife

So I govern my life according to the "One Above."

If others should decide the things I do

Then "real friends" I'd have, would be so few

For then I wouldn't have to be in any of life's quarrels

Because I would have no principals or morals.
