| Mary and I took a fall trip to the Ouachita Mountains for a quick fall break. | ||||||||
| We stopped at one of the numerous 'Vistas' along the Skyline Drive. | This is one of the many uphills that we encountered during the tour. | |||||||
| The haze on the first day's ride gave the distant mountains a good distance perspective. | The different north/south exposure of the mountains determined what kind of trees predominated the slopes. This was a northern slope covered with pines. | |||||||
| This shot, along a southern exposure jeep trail was covered with deciduous trees. | ||||||||
| We took a hike on day 2 and found a pool along a rocky creek next to the path. | ||||||||
| There were also some neat geological features in the area to be seen. This was a 'rock glacier' that was active during the last ice age. | ||||||||
| We stayed in a cabin located at Big Cedar, which was in the middle of the Talimena Drive. We went west to Talimina the first day, and east to Mena, the second. | ||||||||
