This was the first bike that I've ever owned. I hooked up with some guy on eBay, did the deal on the phone within 5 minutes, and we met in the middle between New Jersey and Ohio at the Pittsburgh Greyhound bus station at 6am on a Sunday morning. Cash and titles were exchanged in the coffee shop, and I rode the 160 miles home with white knuckles.
Normally you'd have to pay big bucks for adventures like that.
I eventually learned to ride by commuting 80 miles to work and back every day, and taking MSF classes.
This is/was a great bike. It never required any maintenance, and was great to commute on with its trunk. I sold it due to my fascination with "Iron Butt" rides of 1000+ miles....here the Pacific Coast was a little weak due to its size and range. But 57mpg was nothing to sniff at.
I would own one again in a heartbeat if I had the $.
Here's a shot of my mechanic Will, me, and my PC800 in August 2001.

I ended up putting 7,500 miles on this bike within the space of 5 months, including one "IronButt Saddlesore 1000", after which I sold it to move up to the ST1100 model. I still miss this bike.
