I am new to designing my own patterns, but certainly not new to the art of crochet! I've been "hooked" on crochet for 25 years now. Here are a couple of my patterns, free for your personal use if you'd like.

Materials: worsted weight yarn, sm amts of solid and variegated colors of choice. size H hook Size approx. 6 inches.
With variegated,Ch 5, join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout). 11 dc in ring, join with sl st in top of ch 3.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st as joining, 2 dc in ea st around, join with sl st to top of beg ch 3. (24 dc).
Rnd 3: Ch 4, dc in same st as joining, *sk one dc, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next st. Repeat from * around, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 4. Fasten off.
Rnd 4: Join solid color in any ch 1 sp. Ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2 dc in same sp. (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in each ch 1 sp around, join with a sl st to beg ch 3.
Rnd 5: sl st to first ch 1 sp. ch 3, 2 dc, ch3, 3 dc in same sp as joining. * 3 dc in next ch 1 sp, dc between 2 and 3 dc of following 4 dc, 3 dc in next ch 1 sp, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in next ch1 sp. Repeat from * around, join with sl st in beg ch 3. Fasten off.
Rnd 6: join variegated color in any ch 3 corner sp. Ch 3, 2 dc, ch3, 3 dc in same sp. * Dc in each dc across to next ch 3 corner sp, 3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc, in corner sp. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st in beg ch 3. Fasten off.

materials: 1 dishtowel, cut in half, baste a hem around cut edge.
size 5 steel hook and size G/6 hook
With size 5 hook, make 46 sc evenly spaced acrossed top of towel. Ch 3 and turn.
Row 2: dc in ea sc across. Ch 3, turn.
Row 3: (ch 3 counts as first dc), dc in next 5 dc, popcorn st in next dc, * dc in next 4 dc, popcorn in next dc. Repeat from * across to last 7 dc. Dc in next 5 dc, dc between next dc and beg ch 3. Ch 3, turn.
Row 4: Dc in every other st across. Ch 3, turn. (28)
Row 5: repeat row 4 until you have 8 dc. Ch 3, turn.
Handle: Dc in each dc across. Ch 3, turn.
Rows 2-10: Rep. first row of handle. Fasten off.
Finishing: Place button in desired place.
