Hello! Our names are Garnet and Louise Carrick. We are a husband and wife team who both love to design and create hand made teddy bears.
We have three wonderful grown sons and five grandchildren. We have been creating teddy bears off and on over the years as a hobby and to give as gifts to friends and relatives. We decided creating teddy bears had become more than a hobby for both of us so we began to turn a passion into a full time adventure.
We needed to give something back for this privilege, so we donate a portion of each bear's adoption fee to Elder Abuse Charities in the name of the new Mom or Dad and every 5th bear created is donated to Victim Services with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to be given to victims of crime and loss.
All of our bears are designed and created by Garnet, myself or both. We use only the finest of materials for our bears. Special attention is given to each bears characteristics and fine details. All of our bears are fully jointed in a variety of secure ways. Our mohair bears are firmly stuffed with weighted with glass beads or steel shot. Our plush bears are a little softer as they are created for little ones to cuddle. All of our bears are made by hand with a combination of hand and machine sewing. We needle and scissor sculpt their faces to give each bear their own personality.
Our bears are created as one of a kind and fall into one of two categories.
For our adult collectable bears, we use only the finest imported German mohair or alpaca. We almost always use ultra suede for the paws and foot pads but sometimes use a different material such as virgin wool.
Imported German crystal eyes are a must and may be hand blown, colored and or hand painted depending on the bear. Our bears� noses and mouths are hand embroidered with perle cotton and in some cases will be waxed to give a more realistic appearance.
We also make bears for children and we use only the finest Imported European plush. Child safe eyes and jointing are always used in these bears to ensure a safe product for children. A great deal of attention is given to the fine features of each individual baby bear. We ensure they are safe to share with the little guys.
All of our adopted bears receive a hug before they are safely sent to their new Mom or Dad. They come to their new owners with their birth certificate and special care instructions so you know such things as their favorite TV shows, if they like Eskimo kisses and how many daily hugs they require.
