I have always loved teddy bears. I get my sewing skills from my Grand mother who worked as a seamstress in a bridal gown shop in Leeds, making wedding dresses.

I started designing mohair bears in the beginning of 1997 previously I made plush bears, toys and childrens clothing before making mohair bears to sell.

Bear making and designing is my full time occupation, I have a small fourth bedroom with my pc, sewing machines, mohair and boxes of material where I keep all my bear goodies I do most of my sewing by hand down stairs in the lounge.

My bear are normally made from mohair or alpaca I take inspiration from colours, textures and things around me. My mind is always full of ideas. Most bears take up to three days to complete I never sit and make a bear completely in one day. Normally a bear takes between eight and sixteen hours to complete.

I sew the smaller ones completely by hand, My favourite part is doing the face, placing the nose and eyes and seeing a little character coming to life looking up at you.
I enjoy making realistic bears and polar bears with double neck joints these bears can be posed to look real, also pandas in various non-panda colours. I have made open mouth bears with moulded nose, mouth, tongue and teeth unusual bears. My favourite bears are the rainbow dyed bears.

I mainly sell in the UK on the web or at fairs and mail order although I have sold bears to the USA, Canada, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, Australia and Japan, through my web site.

I design a new pattern for almost every new bear I make. All my bears are my own designs mostly one of a kind or very small limited editions. I change each bear paten so even if I use it more than once it will be made in to a completely different bear using different mohair and change the facial expressions by moving the eyes, nose and ears.

I enjoy attending the shows I recently was invited to Hugglets Winter bear feast at Kensington town hall that was a lovely fair with a real atmosphere I really enjoyed that. I also attend the NEC in Birmingham that usually is a good fair with plenty of collectors through the door, my very first fair was at Pudsey just down the road that is a lovely fair with plenty of visitors. Also the Lincoln fair is new but normally well attended. I enjoy meeting the bear collectors and hearing about their bears.
