Profile
My name is Karen Salton living in Victoria Australia. I am married with 2 children.  My hobby & craft is bear making this is my sanity away from working in an office full time, I would love to work harder towards making my hobby a full time reality, my label is known as Rufnut Teddys.

Ever since taking up Bear making about 3 years ago, I have continuously involved myself in educating and honing my skills with some very well known Australian Bear Artists, taking classes and workshops whenever possible, more recently with sculpting, felt to mohair work, and other techniques, so stayed tuned you will soon see some new designs and styles from me in the near future.  I am also up to speed with various facets with daily contact with others through wonderful groups worldwide to keep abreast of the latest in the industry.

I have been making bears for about 3 years, and designing my own patterns for the past 2 years. Typically I make bears and other critters ranging from about 10 cm (4 inches) to about 35 cm (14 inches), using the best quality German Schulte mohair, Alpaca mohair, and other quality materials. I have also been making needle felted characters for about 12 months, from Corriedale Wool and Merino wool.   Some of my bears have been shown in competition, to support the bear industry but never sold at trade or bear shows in the past.  My preference is to make one of a kind bears with a theme, normally undressed bears and of late some dressed bears, some with beaded accessories, so they are unique and appealing to collectors. I have not made any limited editions to date.   My thrill is delivering the final product to its new owner to see the ending smile or warm cuddle and giggle that they provide.

Please feel free to visit my website for updated available works, shows or classes.

                                Regards Karen.
