Collectible Mohair Teddy Bears & Critters

The back roads of New England hold many special treasures for those who venture down them. It might be a maple sugar house awaiting the first warmth of spring to bring sap, a little white church standing tall on a hillside, an old weathered barn in the middle of a corn field, a moose standing in the early morning mist. I live on one of those back roads and its scenes like these that inspire the critters I create.

I began making bears in late December 2000. I was designing my own bears within a year and by 2003 had published some of my patterns, and began participating in shows and teaching teddy bear making workshops. I also became a self-taught website designer with just enough knowledge to keep my site up and running! I started a bear club in 2004 for artists and collectors to gather once a month in my home and talk teds. We continue to grow and have a wonderful time together.

The Back Road Bears vary from traditional or old time teds to colorful contemporary bears. Moose and bunnies are known to be wandering the back roads too looking for new homes. All are made of Schulte mohair or alpaca, 5 way jointed, weighted with steel shot and filled with lots of love. Most creations are one of a kinds and all are full of character and charm.

Wont you come take a trip down the Back Roads and meet my bears and critters?
