Granny Daughter Heart Motif Square

Materials:

small amount of WW acrylic yarn in Fisherman (MC), Lavender (AC), and a matching variegated (BC).

Special Stitches:

Double Crochet Join (dcj): yarn over, insert hook into space, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook, then insert hook into next space, pull up a loop, (yarn over and pull through two loops on hook) twice. Dcj made.

Double Crochet Triple Join: yarn over, insert hook into space, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook, then insert hook into next space, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook, then insert hook into next space, pull up a loop, (yarn over and pull through two loops on hook) twice. Double Crochet Triple Join made.

Granny Daughter Motif (Make 3):

Use a size H hook or size needed to obtain Gauge (1 and a half inces for each GD).
Use AC, ch 5, sl st to first ch to form a loop

Round 1: ch3, 2 dc in loop, (ch 2, 3 dc) 3 times in loop, ch 2, join with a slip st to 3rd ch of ch 3. Finish off.

Joining the GD's:

�Arrange GD's as shown in picture.

Join border color (BC) with a slip stitch to bottom ch 2 sp of     GD 1

Round 1: ch 3, (dc in next dc) 3 times, 1 dc in ch 2 sp, dcj     in this and closest ch 2 space of GD 2, dc in same ch 2 sp, (dc     in next dc) 3 times, 3 dc in ch 2 sp, (dc in next dc) 3 times,     3 dc in ch 2 sp, (dc in next dc) 3 times, Double Crochet Triple     Join in next ch 2 space of GD 2 then in top ch 2 sp of GD 1 then     in nearest ch 2 sp of GD 3, (dc in next dc) 3 times, 3 dc in     next ch 2 sp, (dc in next dc) 3 times, 3 dc in next ch 2 sp,     (dc in next dc) 3 times, 1 dc in next ch 2 sp, dcj in same ch     2 sp and in next ch 2 sp of GD 1, dc in same sp, (dc in next     dc) 3 times, join with sl st to 3rd ch of ch 3

Round 2: ch 1, sc in joining st, (sc in next st) 21 times, sk next st, (sc in next st) 21 times, sl st to first sc, finish off

Square

Finished size 7".  Use a size H hook.or size needed to obtain gauge.

Begin:  Using MC, ch 5, sl st to first ch to form a loop
Round 1 (right side of work):  ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc in ring, (ch 2, 3 dc) 3 times, ch 2, sl st to third chain of chain 3, turn work
Round 2: sc in next ch 2 space, 2 ch, 2 dc in same space, (2 ch, 3 dc) in same space, ch 1, *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1) in next sp, repeat twice more*, join with sl st to second chain of chain 2, turn work
Round 3 - 7: sc in next ch 1 sp,  2 ch, 2 dc in same sp, ch 1.   (3 dc, ch 1) in every ch 1 space, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1) in every ch 2 space, join with a sl st to second chain of ch 2, turn work
Round 8:  With right side facing: ch 1, sc in same joining st, sc in each dc and ch 1 space, 3 sc in corners, join and finish off

Finishing Up

Sew heart motif to center of square.
