Free Patterns: Cross

This is an original pattern that I designed.
It is for your personal use only, not for commercial
use without permission.

Cross

Supplies:

Worsted wieght yarn, 4 ply
( I used Red Heart yarn.)

Colors:White, Blue (or color of your choice).

Gold or Silver Cord

About 3 to 4 inches of green ribbon.

Aprox. 2 feet of white ribbon for the bow.
(I'm not sure exactly how long the ribbon should be, it's been a long time since I made these and I didn't measure the ribbon.)

Different color ribbon roses.

Pinback

Glue or hot glue gun

#16 tapestry needle

Stitches Used:
Gobelin Stitch
Overcast Stitch

Instructions:

1. Follow the graph and cut out the piece.

2. Work gobelins stitches.

3. Overcast Edges.

4. Make a bow with the white ribbon (3 loops on each side).
Glue it to the cross.
Cut 2 extra pieces of white ribbon about 2 or 3 inches long, cut the one end on an angle and glue them on the bow on the opposite sides of the other ends of the bow. Like an X. (Refer to the picture)

5. Cut a piece of green ribbon about an inch long or so, and kind of fold it in half but leave the folded end rounded, glue the two ends together. Make two of these.
Glue these on top of the bow, opposite ends of each other.
You might want to place the roses on the cross first just to get an idea of how you want to place them and then put the green leaves in where you want them, move the ribbon rose, and then glue the leaf on.

6. Now glue the roses in place. You can follow the design I have or create your own design)

7. Glue the pinback in the center on the back.
You can also glue a loop on the back if you would like to hang it from something. I made the loop from the silver or gold cord.
If you put both on the back you can just tuck the loop down when you pin it to your shirt or wherever.

Make sure all the glue is dry before wearing. If you use a glue gun you shouldn't have to wait too long before you could wear it.
