I have to credit my father for nurturing my love of gardening. I recall, at the age of 4 or 5, my father bought me a miniature version of his galvinized watering can. It was one of the coolest gifts I ever got.
I'm hoping to make some serious changes to the patio garden, but here's where it is now.
Clematis:
Will Goodwin. Large blue flowers with unique ruffled edges and creamy yellow stamens.

Nellie Moser has large, light pink flowers with darker pink strips on each petal.

Both varieties bloom in June, and again in the fall.
They can tend to get leggy and the dead wood needs to be trimmed back. I did some severe snipping last fall & the results were very positive.
The hollyhocks (right)  produce huge blooms (as big as your open hand) and incredible color. They were located in my patio garden in 2002, but in '03 the curb garden had the big show.
I believe the Blue Mist (left) was planted in the summer of 2001. It blooms in late August & September. It was a wonderful, mild fragrance. I planted it to attract butterflies but haven't had any luck yet.
The sundrops (right) were given to me by a fellow Fairport gardener. New blooms appear each day & in the fall the foliage turns a deep red. This flower likes full sun & it spreads. I now have it in each or my gardens.

In 2001 I grew 'red' sunflowers. They were unusual, but over-powering. This specimen (below) was from 2002. The blossom was probably 9" across. I grow them more for the critters than for the beauty. Small birds will land directly on the flower head and eat the seeds.
