Snow Capped Dish Set


I was playing around with the looks of different stitches and came up with this easy dish set. (Sorry, but I ran out of blue so I made the Pot Holder and Cloth in green!)

BEWARE! This pattern has not been tested yet! If you find any errors, please let me know!

Materials: 4 ply cotton yarn in White and Blue
Size G Hook (For towel and cloth) Size K Hook (For potholder)

Special Stitches: LDC-Long Double Crochet
Yarn Over hook, insert in space between SC and LPC from 2 rows below working row, Yarn Over, Pull though a loop, Yarn Over and draw through 2 loops on hook, Yarn Over and draw through remaining 2 loops on hook.

Dishtowel
With Blue CH 35
Row1: SC in 2nd CH from hook and in each CH across (34 SC's)
Row 2: CH 1, turn, SC in first SC, **CH 1, Skip next SC, SC in next SC** repeat across to last 2 SC's. SC in each of the last 2 SC's.
Row 3: Changing to White, CH 1, turn, SC in first SC, LDC in space between 2 SC's in Row 1. **Skip next SC on current Row, SC in next SC, LDC in space between 2 SC's in Row 1,** repeat across.
Row 4: CH 1, turn, SC in first 2 stitches, **CH 1, skip next stitch, SC in next stitch,** repeat to last 2 stitches. SC in each of the last 2 stitches.
Row 5: Changing to Blue, CH 1, turn, SC in first SC, LDC in space between LDC and SC's of Row 3. **Skip next SC on current Row, SC in next SC, LDC in space between 2 LDC and SC in Row 3,** repeat across.
Row 6: Repeat Row #4 (Rows 3-5 establish pattern.) Continue until you have 11 white and blue pattern rows.

Next you'll switch to blue, CH 1, turn, SC in first SC, decrease over the next 2 stitches and you'll continue to decrease until you get to the last SC. SC in last SC. CH 1, turn.

Repeat the last row until you have a total of 4 SC's. CH 1, turn and SC in each SC (4 sc's at the end of each row) Do this for about 12 rows. Next row you will CH 1, turn, SC in first SC, CH 2, skip next 2 SC's and SC in last SC. You will then CH 1, turn, SC in first SC and SC in each of the 2 CH's from previous row. SC in last SC. CH 1, turn. Continue SCing in each SC for another 3 rows then fasten off blue.

With white, make a button.
CH 4, Slip stitch to make a ring.
CH 1, SC 4 times in ring and join.
CH 1, SC in first SC, 2 SC in next SC and continue this to end of row.
CH 1, SC in first SC, decrease over next 2 SC and continue to end of row.
CH 1, SC in each SC. Leave a long tail and weave through loops of the last rows SC's and tighten to make a button. Sew onto the handle part of dishcloth and weave in all ends.

Dishcloth
With Blue CH 35
Row1: SC in 2nd CH from hook and in each CH across (34 SC's)
Row 2: CH 1, turn, SC in first SC, **CH 1, Skip next SC, SC in next SC** repeat across to last 2 SC's. SC in each of the last 2 SC's.
Row 3: Changing to White, CH 1, turn, SC in first SC, LDC in space between 2 SC's in Row 1. **Skip next SC on current Row, SC in next SC, LDC in space between 2 SC's in Row 1,** repeat across.
Row 4: CH 1, turn, SC in first 2 stitches, **CH 1, skip next stitch, SC in next stitch,** repeat to last 2 stitches. SC in each of the last 2 stitches.
Row 5: Changing to Blue, CH 1, turn, SC in first SC, LDC in space between LDC and SC's of Row 3. **Skip next SC on current Row, SC in next SC, LDC in space between 2 LDC and SC in Row 3,** repeat across.
Row 6: Repeat Row #4 (Rows 3-5 establish pattern.) Continue until you have 7 white and blue pattern rows.

Switch to blue and SC evenly in each stitch around, working 3 sc's in each corner. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Potholder
You will work this hold 2 strands of the same color together.
With Blue CH 33BR> Row1: SC in 2nd CH from hook and in each CH across (34 SC's)
Row 2: CH 1, turn, SC in first SC, **CH 1, Skip next SC, SC in next SC** repeat across to last 2 SC's. SC in each of the last 2 SC's.
Row 3: Changing to White, CH 1, turn, SC in first SC, LDC in space between 2 SC's in Row 1. **Skip next SC on current Row, SC in next SC, LDC in space between 2 SC's in Row 1,** repeat across.
Row 4: CH 1, turn, SC in first 2 stitches, **CH 1, skip next stitch, SC in next stitch,** repeat to last 2 stitches. SC in each of the last 2 stitches.
Row 5: Changing to Blue, CH 1, turn, SC in first SC, LDC in space between LDC and SC's of Row 3. **Skip next SC on current Row, SC in next SC, LDC in space between 2 LDC and SC in Row 3,** repeat across.
Row 6: Repeat Row #4 (Rows 3-5 establish pattern.) Continue until you have 6 white and blue pattern rows.

Switch to blue and SC evenly in each stitch around, working 3 sc's in each corner. Fasten off and weave in ends.
