Tips for saving money!

I love to craft, but it can get quite expensive if you don't know how or what to buy. Below I have listed some ideas to help you cut the cost of your craft project.

Coupons
Most craft stores have weekly ads which have coupons in them. Most are for 40% off one originally priced item, but some will give you up to 30% off your entire purchase! In my area, we have Michaels, Jo-Anns and The Rag Shop. Michaels is the stingiest when it comes to coupons (I know, I used to work there). They usually put a sales flyer in the local Sunday paper every other week. If you didn't get one, don't bother asking someone at the store for an extra copy, they aren't allowed to give them out. If you don't get the paper, you're SOL. Rag Shop is very liberal with their coupons and are my fave store! You can sign up on line to get e-mail coupons if you don't get the ones they put in the paper. Jo-Ann's is a little better than Michaels as you can go to their website and sign up for a mailer. It takes almost 6 weeks to get your first ad and if you don't use your coupon, they won't mail you any more of them so be sure to use it!

Garage Sales
I know you may not believe me, but I have found so many great things at garage sales that it's one of my fave places to get craft items. Just a couple of months ago I went to a garage sale where I found a huge box full of yarn. Not only was it full to the brim, but these were premium yarns that start at $5.99 a skein in the stores. I got the whole box for $5.00 and was able to make 4 different projects from it (including the simple baby blanket and freedom poncho). Another time I got 2 big bags of Red Heart ww yarn in all kinds of different colors and such for $1.00!!!! I was able to use that for projects where I only needed a little of a certain color.

Trade
One persons trash is another persons treasure. A friend of yours may have a bunch of yarn they won't ever use and you may have pattern booklets you'll never yse. Trade them and VOILA! you each have something you want! Crochetville is a great place to trade your craft items with others. I have actually been able to get rid of a ton of pattern booklets that I would never use and have traded with others who wanted those booklets and had things I needed. It's a win, win situation all around!

If you have a money saving tip, please e-mail me and I'll post your suggestion!
