I needed a little purse to carry my credit cards and cash for a weekend out of town. I wanted it small, but one with a long enough strap to go around my neck and be comfortable.
I came across a neat pattern that looked relatively easy. I actually followd the pattern pretty closely but did make some modifications.
I used regular ww yarn, but you could use scraps or pretty much anything you have laying around the house as it didn't take all too much yarn at all.
Instead of working 22 rows, I only did 14 since it appeared to be big enough for what I wanted. I then followed the rest of the pattern until I got to the strap. I really did not like the way the strap looked after working it so I pulled it out and started over.
Chain 151, Sc in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across.
Chain 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
If you want a wider strap, simply repeat the last row until it's the width you require.
You can make your strap longer or shorter by adding or subtracting the beginning amount of chains.
This only took me about an hour to work up so it's a great afternoon project.
