This one I made for one of my nephews. I got the pattern from the back of a skein of Wal-Mart's Mainstays Yarn. The picture and pattern is for a solid color, but as you can see it works up nicely when made in rows!!! I did use my fave Red Hearts ww yarn in Light Blue and Windsor Blue colors. If you want a solid color, simply don't change colors where it says to in the pattern:
Chain 167
Row 1: (RS) dc in 4th ch from hook and next 3 ch.
*ch 2, skip next 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 2, skip next 2 ch, dc in next 5 ch; rep from * across; turn.
Row 2: ch 3, skip first dc, dc in next 4 dc, 8 ch 3, sl st in sc, ch 3, dc in next 5 dc; rep from * across, working last dc in top of ch-3; turn.
Row 3: ch 1, sc in first 5 dc, * ch 5, sc in next 5 dc; rep from * across, working last sc in top of ch-3; turn.
Row 4: ch 3, skip first sc, dc in next 4 sc, * ch 2, sc in ch-5 sp, ch 2, dc in next 5 sc; rep from 8 across; turn.
Repeat rows 2-4 for pattern until approx 66 in from beg, end in Row 2.
If you want to change colors like I did in my pattern, change colors after row #2. So each color would be worked Row 3, Row 4, Row 2.
For fringe, I simply cut pieces of yarn the length I wanted then took 4 pieces of each color and wrapped them into the ends of their matching color row and tied with a knot.
