Refinishing Wood Furniture
If I had known that I would create a website like this, I would have taken before and anfer pictures of the furniture I have refinished. The dresser is a before and after, and the child's rocker is my current project. I will try to take some photos of other finished projects to put on this page soon.

I consider these my summer projects, and work on them for a couple of hours every Saturday. I usually do one piece per summer, and I even got my mother interested in doing a dresser and some kitchen chairs.
I prefer to use Strip-Eze brand stripper, since I found it works the best. After all of the varnish and stain are removed with the stripper, I sand down the whole piece, and although I've tried painting a few pieces, I prefer to use a stain and polyurethane to keep the wood look and put a protective topcoat on.
For my 2006 project, I volunteered to refinish a big round table from the library.
The top was pitted and scratched, so I borrowed my brother's heavy duty sander to smooth it all out.
Stay tuned for the finished table
I volunteered to refinish a podium for the library in 2005. It was a very easy peice to do, and it turned out nicely.

This little telephone stand was stripped down, and my husband thought it should have been left like this, but I am so used to using stain, I did it anyway.
So, I guess he was right. I still like it, but it would have looked better with just a coat of polyerathane over the natural wook.
This 2004 project took me two years to complete. I had  to sand all of this white paint off because Strip-Eze will not touch it. I think it is painted with Teflon. LOL.
In the summer of 2005, I finally finished this project, and it turned out better than I'd hoped.
These are before pictures of my summer 2003 project.
This is what the children's rocking chair looked like after I was done. It  was given as a baby shower gift to my nephew.
