Hosting my first Baby Shower
My niece has assigned me to host her baby shower for my side of the family, since her parents are divorced. I had no idea what I was going to do, so I decided to follow a paper craft theme. The first step was the invitations. I searched the internet, and found some templates for invitations, and thought they were adorable. It did help that we knew well in advance that it was going to be a boy.
I tried to get some fuzzy blue paper, but the one store that did carry it was out of it, so I settled for this green color, which I got a little flack for. I thought they came out cute anyway.

After searching the internet for other ideas, I found this adoable pattern for a baby shoe that is used for a party favor. My mom and I put together twelve of these. They are made out of cardstock with a star brad fastening the strap to the shoe, and a ribbon on the front of the shoe.
Another idea I got from the internet was to make up a "Baby Advice Book". Asking everyone to write down a on 3X5 index card advice they would give to a new mother. I made up the booklet ahead of time, so that all I had to do was glue the index cards onto the pages the day of the shower.
Now comes the interesting part of the baby shower. My mother and I bought in advance all kinds of scrapbook paper, embelishments and stickers. This was the expensive part of the shower for us. My plan was for the eveyone in attendance to create an 8X10 wall hanging from the materials we provided. To make things less stressful to myself and my mother, we did ours ahead of time, making, at the same time, the baby shower cards. The wall hanging and card that I created are pictured below.
