| **The scene opens to find Rob Osbourne pulling his Maserati out of the
loading bay in his private jet. As he drops the black Italian sports car
into second gear the car fishtails, but it does so at the moment he intended
for it to do so and he swings the hard left out of the Greater Rochester
International Airport and swings the powerful machine onto Jefferson Road
and explodes up the ramp onto I-390 North. What seems like an instant later,
the car gets air as Osbourne takes the off ramp at exit 19 onto Culver Road.
As the car finally slows down and rolls to a stop in front of Flex Gym &
Fitness center, his cell phone rings.**
NRO: This is Robhey.yeah I just pulled up in front of Flex as we speak. Noreallllly??? Well, that should be interesting. Okay, let me get in here and do this promotion and then Ill give you a call. Where does He want to eat? No shit, Ive been there. Yeah, its literally around the corner from here right? I just shoot up Atlantic and then hang a right on University. Is this the place they opened inside the Art Gallery when they shut down the restaurant they had at The Inn on the Lake in Canandaigua? Well, tell Chef Tony my filet better be perfecto or Ill put him through a table.sure. See you soon bro. **Osbourne heads in the rear entrance of Flex gym and is immediately greeted by the owner and proprietor, Tom Renner.** Renner: Mr. Osbourne it was very kind of you to agree to do this for us. When Mr. Hillard and Mr. Styles cancelled we thought we were screwed, but Don Russo called me and said he could get you and your brother to come in and sign some autographs and talk to our Grapplefest attendees. NRO: First of all, its Rob. Pledge can't make it Secondly, when the Don called me up and said there was a gym in Rochester that brought in kids from age 14-24 to guide them into the wrestling world, how could I pass up the opportunity to speak with them? What did you want me to hit on? Renner: Well, we were thinking maybe you could touch on the struggles that go with trying to make it in the business today, what it was like when you were trying to break in, the accomplishments youve amassed during your career, what it was like to be in the presence of the very men you grew up watchingyou know, some general history type things. I want these kids who are only 75-80% committed to find out what it is like so they can make their decision to either become 100% committed or to end it now with their bodies still in tact. NRO: Smart guy. I wish there were folks like you around doing this type of thing when I broke in. It may have went differently. Renner: Are you saying your path may have been different then? NRO: Not at all. Im saying maybe some of those half assed guys that signed up in the flood of rosters in the mid 90s might have chosen a different path. The current and reigning CWF Champion is a perfect example. Brian Adams has been at this as long as I have. We have been up and down roads together in this country and the one thing I would have to say, beyond all the bullshit and smack talking is this, with the talent Adams has, had he been 100% committed 10 years ago, he would have had a stellar career. Instead, his was a life of Mid-Card Mediocrity for the better part of a decade. Hell, it wasnt until the real greats of his time were long gone before he started seeing real Main Event status matches that he would be set to win in. Sure, we all did the J.O.B. in a main event a few times before we won one. Doesnt mean we should gloat about getting beat up. Renner: WaitI dont understand, you are calling the current top champion of your company a guy who "Mired in Mid Card Mediocrity"? NRO: Yes indeed. You see, the problem with guys like Brian Adams is that when they get nervous, when their backs are really up against the wall....they break. They crack up like an egg. His verbal tirade earlier this week on PWN is proof positive of that. Did you know he criticized me for talking about the past? For acknowledging that while I have not been a champion in the CWF, I have held numerous titles in several places in the past. ... Renner: I can't believe he would say something like that. What does he think of the guys like Andrew Archer, Jimmy Blast, Tony Mullins, Mike Stewart, and guys that paved the way for YOU to pave the way for guys like Juggernaut, Alex Way, Drastic and the like? NRO: Apparently it doesn't matter to Brian Adams. But he's from Philadelphia - so he has to have instant gratification. A "what have you done for me lately?" mentality. This is a town that has one of the best Franchise quarterbacks of all time on their roster and they call for his head when he has one bad game?? Or they ride Iverson out of town on a rail because he can't carry the whole team and win them a championship?!?! To be honest with you Tom, I don't know what running through 4 straight opponents in my CWF return does for instant gratuity to Mark Xamin's bottom line but apparently that doesn't matter to our Lord and Savior Brian Adams...and hell, it's not like I just beat 4 random guys. Sure, Rey Del Dragon was a cinch, but Blood in a Sacrifice match??? AT SUPERCARD?!?!? Come on Adams, give me a little credit already. And handing Paul Blair his ass on a platter last week, who is, by the way a CWF Hall of Famer who I myself came up behind. Of course I passed his mark ass along time a go, but I still respect the decades he has logged in the ring and the championships he has held everywhere. It is not the performance of one run in one place that we measure ourself great to. No, it is the number of times that hand goes up. For me pal, that's alot of times in alot of places. They have all thrown me their best, and I ran roughshod through each and every damn one of them. I'll do it to you to. Just sit up there on your high horse, panick stricken. To quote the great poet James Hetfield.... Then it all crashes down .....And you break your crown.....And you point your finger....But there's no one around....Just want one thing.....Just to play the king......But the castle's crumbled.....And you're left with just a name.....Where's your crown, King Nothing? Renner: Wow! That was classic. You have no idea how grateful I am that you are here. I have been a huge fan for a very long time. Rob, I can guarantee you that me, and the kids who participate in this program, unlike Brian Adams, we love you and we want you to go on and on and never let us forget the past. NRO: Well then, to your kids and the millions of fans around the world, like the great British Prime Minister Winston Churchill once said that I feel rings true of my own history, the present, and the future...."History will be kind to me....for I intend to write it." **Scene fades as Osbourne goes out and meets the kids in the group. He signs autographs for what seems hours and listens to kids and parents telling him their personal favorite Osbourne moment. Whether it was his dad Joe or his brothers Chris, Eric, and...Pledge. A few of the kids who were older in the group had actually competed recently against his son. The scene at the gym fades to several hours later and just a mile away to Max at the Gallery. Seated at a small table in the back of the restaraunt is none other than Pledge Alligence and Don Russo...** NRO: Gentlemen. How are you this evening? Pledge: Rob, thanks for coming, especially under the ...uh...circumstances. NRO: Pledge...Phil...it's ok. We need to show this little smart ass just how bad the past is gonna haunt him. Pledge: You know, you don't ALWAYS have to cuss. Kids do watch you ya know. NRO: Yeah, mostly smart mouth little scumbags and bullies...,so what? Don...how are you? Don Russo: Ah...Roberto...howsa you doin eh? NRO: Good. Good. Nice to see you keeping him in check, as always. (Rob leans in close) He okay ...ya know...upstairs? I hit him PRETTY hard... Don Russo: Oh...Roberto...Pledgea is finea. We needa to talk abouta this upcoming matcha witha Brian Adams and The uh....Juggeranautta... Pledge: Rob, for what it's wprth man I pissed on what turned out to be my own fathers grave for crying out loud. I think we're even NRO: True that....let's talk business...... **The scene fades as Osbourne, Pledge, and Don Russo discuss their plans for Showdown.** |
