INSPIRATION

Now that the rain's stopped beating down and at last I can see again,

The times that with the wind blow up

And with the wind die down again

My thoughts that upon oceans float

'Till idly they sink away

And from day to night and moon to sun

My mind floats along the day.

It seeks something that I'll never find

Though forever and beyond I'll search

Then from my dreams the road appears

Rolling on through my eyes

And soon the dancing shadows die

And lead me on to new surprise.

Life seems to me an endless folly

A scene of laughter in a tragic play

The curtain falls and crushes hope

And again my mind drifts far away.

It seems like sleep or living death

There is no end today

And on my grave they lay a wreath

A symbol of their heart felt grief

There is no life this way.

The bonds of sanity disappear

I'm shown beyond the sky

The mysteries of the universe

Are open to the eye

But soon the eyes are closed again

New shadows then appear

Images of life and light

Between the eyes and ears

Within the eye and ear there lie the sounds of hope and the light of a sigh

To hear the grass talk to the trees and the air

Until all these things become so dear

To a mind that's far away

The light brings hope to all that's dead

To minds that never wake

And lifts them from a flowery grave

With hearts that never break.

Life is light to dreamers all.
