Where Did We Come From?

Mitochondrial Eves

The theory is we are all descended from 3 particular women who originated in Central Africa. This could come as a bit of a shock to Western Europeans and their descendants.

Mitochondrial DNA is, apparently, a good way of analysing the development of the human race and giving some indication of how long we have existed. I understand its a strand of DNA passed down exclusively through the female line. At the same time these clever scientists are also looking at the progress of Y Chromosone which, for you girls, is a 'Man' thing!

Its taken us Human Beens roughly 200,000 years (270,000 if you've got a Man at the wheel!) to get to where we are now. It seems the most sophisticated development of Mitochondrial DNA is still to be found in the women of Central Africa.

This theory covers the present genre of Homo Sapiens and seems to indicate a lack of relationship to Homo Erectus and Neanderthal before us. So we obviously do come from outer space! Nica you guys to lend us some a your totty to give us a kick start!

On the other hand, of course, there is the Nuclear DNA lobby. Theyre giving us a dating of about 800,000 years and seem to be less exclusive about Hom Erec and Ned Thal. However, they dont seem to want to argue about the original location of Central Africa.

I guess the theory is they did their empirical thing a long time ago and spread the gospel and spread the seed. Now, perhaps, they can spend their time watching their empirical children squabbling and fighting in the backyard!

Nice thought!

Just makes me wonder slightly about the Black Madonnas of Southern France. Did somebody know something back then?

Anyway, check out the sites, some readable and some full of technical gobbledegook:
