Hugely popular in the Pittsburgh area, Illuminatus!, featuring Tony Mentzer on bass and vox, Tom Sailor on rhythm guitar and vox, Brian Johnson on guitar and vox, and Dan Sebastian and Joe Detulio on drums, recorded most of this material as a result of winning a battle-of-the-bands type contest in 1991.

Illuminatus!, self-titled
Good solid guitar rack with touches of blues and country mixed in ~ the sort of thing that brings the word "heartland" to mind. "Set Fire To This Town" is a howler, full of vigor and energy, that amply displays the four-piece's tight yet open sound, guaranteed to get the juices flowing. Other cuts include "What I Used To Say" and "In The Middle Of The Day". A band poised to go places. (Mike Gunderloy)
