After discovering what caused the explosion, Nanahara, Noriko, & Kawada stood completely still. As they watched Kiriyama, limped his way towards them. Kawada slowly sneaks up behind him, when Kawada pumped his shotgun, Kiriyama with his eyes bleeding & blinded from the explosion.Turns to Kawada & open fires at him. With quick reflexes Kawada drops to the floor & rolls away to safety while pumping a few gunshots at Kiriyama. Mortally wounded, Kiriyama still stood up to proceed his attack, only to get his head blown off (Literally!) by Kawada's shotgun, & deadly aim. Soon after, the following day, Kitano announces that there's only three players left. Them three, as they proceeded to the edge of the island. Kawada, suddenly pulls a gun on Nanahara, & Noriko, claiming that he just used them as some sort deal he had made with Kitano. In the end, after hearing two gunshots, Kitano orders the military to move out for the game is over, he then proceeded to do some calistenics. As soon as the island was free of soldiers, Kawada limps out to Kitano. Kitano then accuses Kawada of hacking into the system, and pulls a gun on him as well. Suddenly Nanahara, & Noriko rushes into the room with both their guns drawn as well on Kitano. Kitano begs to be shot by Noriko (the only student that ever respected him as a teacher) he wanted to die by her hand. Noriko refusing Kitano's request, aimed his gun on her, and as he did Nanahara opened fire at Kitano who then falls flat on the ground. Turns out that Kitano's gun was just a watergun. After being shot, Kitano's cellphone rings, and he stands up, to answer the call. It was his daughter, he then throws the cellphone away, shoots it, & then dies on the couch. They soon ride a boat to get back to the city, & on the way Kawada passes away. Despite what they have both been through, after enduring all that chaos. Nanahara, & Noriko, are both considered fugitives by the Government, & run they both did in the end to enjoy their "new" freedom together Reviewed by Dagon (copyright 2001) DAGON'S ASIAN CINEMA DOMAIN

Final Note: "Amazing, this movie is simply..amazing. It takes your breath away. At least it did mine! You simply owe it to yourself to see this movie. It's like none other, nothing compares to it. It's a whole different genre I think. It's an exciting thriller, with over the top violence! it's an enjoyable flick in a spooky sort of way! I have to state though however that, this particular movie is NOT for everyone!. It might impress, & at the same time, it also might offend. Be aware that the movie depicts ULTRA VIOLENCE! and should not be taken lightly! You've been warned! Now with that said, pick yourself up a copy of this MOVIE GEM, and hold on to your fears!!!" From 1- 10 Dagons, It's a pleasure for me to give "Battle Royale" a perfect rating of 10 Dagons.

DVD/VCD Review: At the time of this writing, "BATTLE ROYALE" is only available on a Region 3 DVD format in JAPAN. And the only "Regionless" release is on a VCD format, released by UNIVERSE LASER & VIDEO CO.,LTD. in Hong Kong. The VCD itself is not bad. Features a 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround, & it is a LETTERBOX format, & has both CHINESE & ENGLISH imbedded subtitles. Further review will be available as soon as BATTLE ROYALE is released on a "Regionless" DVD.
