| 101 Mutations |
| Hi Mela, You killed the Captain Planet villains in your fanfics? What did you do to Dr. Blight? When I watched 101 Mutations I thought of all kinds of ways I wanted to inflict pain on Dr. Blight. Mary ------------------- Actually, I always thought that Dr. Blight would be the one that could be reformed out of the villains; if you rob her of her tech stuff, she's fairly helpless. Nothing like being utterly helpless to teach a person a few lessons. Is "101 Mutations" the one about puppy mills? I've never seen it, but the concept of puppy mills enrages me. I saw one when I was 13. My friend Kim & I went to Lancaster to her little camp place in the summer, and her parents--they really love dogs--decided to get another dachshund to keep their senior citizen dachy Sam company. Her parents never moved out of her maternal grandparents, and Kim's grandmother was a domineering, racist weirdo. She found this "kennel" in the phone book; when we went, Kim & I could tell it was a puppy mill. But try telling that to Grandmother; it said kennel, so it must be a kennel. All the dogs looked ill at best and were all mongrels. One had a powdery substance on his head that Grandmother said was "dried milk"--it was mange. Despite Kim's objections, they got a puppy from this place--a "dapple dachshund." The dog's still alive, but it's scared of everything & won't let anyone touch it. That place was so disgusting; I can see why my parents never even thought of getting a dog from there, only registered breeders (like our purebred lab Logan) & the ASPCA (like our mutt, Tai). I don't think I would be able to watch that without getting mad at someone. Probably Grandmother. "Kennel", yeah right. (Good note--the "dapple" dachy gets along great w/Kim's senior citizen dachy.) Sorry about that. One day I'll share the horrifying legend of Gerry Biggs & "No-Food-In-The-Lab." Make sure you have a strong stomach. Mela Sorry I rambled ------------------- Yes, 101 Mutations is the one about the puppy mill, and I found it very upsetting. Puppy mills infuriate me as well. Any time I meet up with someone who wants to get a dog I try to steer them toward getting one from a shelter, or, if they want a purebred, from a reputable breeder. What a horrible experience for a 13 year old to have, I'm sorry you saw that disgusting place. We have a kennel near where I work, the ditzy owner breeds puppies and sells them at the flea market. She also collects the kittens she allows her barn cats to produce and sells them at the flea market. What's worse is that people actually buy her animals. {Mary} |
