| A polluter and profiteer who deals in toxic wastes, his favorite ploy is to turn national forests or other remote areas into toxic waste dumps. He sees himself as a pioneer in "trash treatment technology," though he'll break any law for a fast buck. Like Greedly, his modus operandi is to move in and out before the authorities can seize him. He dumps garbage in the ocean by using his fleet of souped-up barges. Inland, he spews waste into lakes and rivers and litters the landscape with refuse. If no land or water is available, he burns the waste. So what if it becomes acid rain? That's not his problem. Sly generally wears coveralls, construction clothes or uniform-like garb. He has longish hair; his large stomach bulges comically. Physically unimposing, it is his penchant for polluting that makes him a formidable environmental menace. Sludge's ignominous sidekick is a whining sniveler named Ooze. |
