Dr. Barbara Blight
This super-scientist believes in better living through biochemistry and has experimented on herself in her efforts to produce the perfect human. Deviously demented, she misuses her scientific genius by inventing new methods to sap the environment of its health and vitality in order to supplement her own. Dr. Blight began her career researching biological and chemical warfare and, thus, has a host of deadly weapons at her disposal. She represents the dark side of science, using her vast knowledge to create biological monstrosities, wipe out entire populations of plants and animals, and generally wreak havoc on Earth. Her super computer, nicknamed MAL, is programmed for pure evil. MAL's high level of artificial intelligence is often devoted solely to calculating new and diabolical ways to destroy Captain Planet and the Planeteers, leaving Dr. Blight to pursue more creative research. Dr. Blight sees herself as a fashion plate, often appearing in a chic long-sleeve jump suit and high-cut boots. She wears a utility belt to which various items may be attached.

Barbara began her career as a chemist for the army, designing chemical weapons. Enters Malcolm Blight, a brilliant computer scientist charged of creating a super computer using artificial intelligence and...an actual person's memories. They fall in love, get married, and continue working side by side. Blight uses his own memories and, yes, that's him on the screen. One evening, some people break in the laboratory where they work and try to steal both the computer and weapon projects. A fire breaks out, ensues chemical explosions, amongst which one that will injure Barbara while she's trying to save Malcolm. Unfortunately, Malcolm dies in the fire, but she manages to save the computer, the last thing she has of him. Since his memories are inside, it's like he's still there somewhat, and it is the reason she is so attached to it. They never had children, and she may be too attached to her husband's memory to look elsewhere, anyway. ---Info from one of Isa's posts
Continuing on the children bit, Blight apparently does hook up with someone, as two episodes indicate she has at least one child. "Future Shock" is a bit of an iffy one, as that future is destroyed, but in it there was Blight 5, a 5th generation Blight. In "Dirty Politics," in which the Planeteers travel to the future, Blight's daughter helps the Planeteers help the future Planeteers. Of course, we can't rule out cloning or other scientific methods, especially since MAL dotes on the girl. Maybe Blight managed to save more than just his memories....
