There is one exception however. The Granada TV series (1984-1994) with Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes is absolutely fantastic. Brett is the quintessential Sherlock Holmes, and the production of the series is second to none. Two actors played Watson; David Burke in the first two series, and Edward Hardwicke for the rest. They were both exceptional in the role.
