1) Scream of the Shalka (9/10)
Funny, scary, exciting, well written and an excellent Doctor (though he does sound like Paul McGann when he's yelling). This is what I wanted the new Doctor Who TV series to be like. Alison and her boyfriend are like Rose and Mickey only 100 times better. Awesome stuff.
2) Shada (9/10)
This was really excellent. I think the pictures add quite a lot even though they aren't really doing much. This is how Douglas Adams pictured it, I'm sure. Skagra is so much more menacing in this audio; he's awesome. It's nice to 'see' some of the scenes we didn't see with Tom Baker. I wasn't expecting much and was very pleasantly surprised.
3) The Paradise of Death (8/10)
This is one of my favourite audios, though again it's not liked by many. It's extremely dark (which I love) and menacing and the acting and production values are top notch. I'm still a little surprised it isn't more popular. I guess it's because it's so dark.
4) The Origins of the Cybermen (8/10)
Not really an adventure, but very neat anyway. It reminded me of the Silmarillion audio I listened to once.
5) Urgent Calls (8/10)
This was very cool and could only have been done as a one-parter. Even though it was just phone conversations it felt like more. Kind of a sad ending though.
6) He Jests at Scars (7/10)
I enjoyed this quite a lot as well, though overall I'm not really a fan of the Unbound series. I like seeing other actors in the role, but I'd rather see them in more 'conventional' stories. Nice 'seeing' the Valeyard again.
7) Sympathy for the Devil (7/10)
It was nice hearing David Warner as the Doctor but he was very stoic. Show a little emotion man! Acting! I think Warner would make a better Doctor Who villain. The story wasn't bad.
8) Project Lazarus (7/10)
This was very dark, but unlike The Paradise of Death, I found the darkness to not work very well. It was a little too violent and nasty at points. I don't have a limit on how much darkness, violence and nastiness a story should have, but sometimes a story can go too far within its own context and/or be too violent merely for the sake of being violent. Nimrod has been in two stories and he hasn't lived up to his potential yet.
9) Auld Mortality (7/10)
This was pretty good. Nice to hear Susan again (though why can't she be in a 'normal' story with another Doctor? That I'd rather see). The actor playing the Doctor was very good.
10) The Last of the Titans (7/10)
This one has many funny bits including perhaps the funniest 'audio double take' on Sylvester McCoy's line of 'Chalk?' I don't think they quite knew what they wanted in this short story as it started out as kind of a comedy, and then became rather dark. A bit jarring, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
11) Death Comes to Time (7/10)
The first 'teaser' episode was awesome. I was excited. It was new, cool Doctor Who. Unfortunately it kind of dragged a bit by the end. At first I didn't really like the story as a whole, but after a second watch, years later, I can appreciate it for being different.
12) A Storm of Angels (7/10)
This would probably be an 8 if it wasn't so long. I don't mind that it's four parts but each individual part was too long. I think you could make a series using this 1st Doctor and Susan.
13) No Place Like Home (7/10)
Pretty good. I like the concept of these one-offs. Pretty funny and nice use of nostalgia.
14) Deadline (7/10)
"Very interesting. Please don't ever do anything like this again." There's my review. It was very interesting, but really not Doctor Who. Perfect for an unbound story. If they can do this, why can't they do my Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred as themselves story? :)
15) Cuddlesome (7/10)
Not bad and kind of creepy, but overall a little long and the creepy-factor wears off rather quickly. I did like the sing-song battle at the end. "We're gonna change the world..."
16) Her Final Flight (7/10)
Not bad. The actor playing the Chieftain sounded almost exactly like the Brigadier. Any writer who writes a vomiting scene in these audios should be shot.
17) Urban Myths (6/10)
Neat idea, but nothing special.
18) Real Time (6/10)
This wasn't bad, though it was a little boring. I have a feeling this was because I only had the audio for it and not the animations. I think I would have liked it more with the animations. Yee Jee Tso was better here than in Excelis Decays but he still sucked.
19) The Sirens of Time (5/10)
The first BFA, though not the first I listened to. If it had been the first, I probably would have liked it more. Not a bad way to get the audios rolling I guess. It certainly could have been a lot worse.
20) Cryptobiosis (5/10)
I like the concept very much; mermaids and ships in a stormy sea. Too bad it was so boring.
21) The Ratings War (5/10)
This might have been funnier or more interesting if I knew who Beep the Meep was. I got the impression I was supposed to know.
22) The Veiled Leopard (4/10)
This could have been really good. I like the idea of one set of companions going against another and not realizing it. Unfortunately they don't even meet up! I see what they were going for in basically telling the same story from different viewpoints, but that's been done to death and it would have been nice to see the two sets of companions actually facing off against one another.
23) The Ghosts of N-Space (4/10)
Can't remember much about it except that it was a huge letdown after Paradise of Death. I remember it being very boring.
24) Living Legend (4/10)
I guess it was sort of funny having the Doctor laughing at the ridiculousness of the situation, but I couldn't get over the fact that it was rather boring. And I thought the Doctor liked cats?
25) The Maltese Penguin (2/10)
I didn't think it could get much worse than this until Full Fathom Five. Frobisher is not a good companion. They should keep him in the comics. Once again we are deluged with crappy American accents. The 'Sam Spade' film noir spy stuff just doesn't really work in Doctor Who. Yet, most people claim to like this piece of trash. Why? Because it's written by Robert Shearman (yes he's great, and his script here is funny but it's badly acted, badly directed and doesn't fit Doctor Who). It's like The Stones of Venice above; people see who it's written by and then say how great it is, even though neither is good audio drama. It's the Lawrence Miles syndrome. He writes one great novel, then suddenly all his novels are great (even though they pale in comparison). Unlike Miles though, Shearman can deliver... just not here.
26) Full Fathom Five (2/10)
I was going to give this an 8/10 until about 10 minutes left in the story. The only thing I wasn't enjoying was the American accents (when will BF learn? Especially when the story wasn't set anywhere specific... no need for fake American accents). Even the 'nasty' Doctor works for me. The music was good too. But then the companion does a complete about-face and becomes a psychotic murderer because of something that she doesn't understand and happened when she was what, two years old? I mean her father was killed 27 years ago and she can't be more than 30. Then she not only goes out of character and kills the Doctor (fit of rage, I'll buy), but she waits for him to regenerate so she can kill him again and again and... That's not a fit anymore, that's a calculated murderer (while the real villain sits and watches!). This is the absolute worst ending in any Doctor Who story anywhere.
27) Exile (1/10)
Drinking and swearing and burping and puking. Haha! The Doctor is female but apart from a mention of "suicide and a sex change" so it would be easier to hide, it has absolutely no bearing on the story at all.
BBC7 8th Doctor Adventures
Overall thoughts: Not bad. I like the short format. Lucy eventually grew on me but she is a little too sarcastic/whiny/argumentative for my liking. For whatever reason, the 8th Doctor is not written as well as he is in his normal BFAs. He just seems out of character in most of the stories.

Dalek Empire Audios
Overall thoughts: The first series wasn't bad. I'm not a huge fan of Doctor-less Doctor Who (unless it's playing the Doctor Who RPG). The Daleks were genuinely scary, but I'm not too fond of the human characters in these series very much.

Sarah Jane Audios
Overall thoughts: Mostly boring. It is nice to hear Sarah in action again, and this series has lots of potential. They just haven't lived up to that potential yet. Series 1 does have the best theme song of the non-traditional Who stuff, but it seems they changed the song for Series 2 and it's not as good. Series 2 has more "Doctor Who-ish" stuff going on, but I think it was better in Series 1 when her travels with the Doctor weren't really mentioned or important.

Benny Audios
Overall thoughts: I love the character of Benny. She's probably my favourite non-TV companion. And Lisa Bowerman does a fantastic job; she *is* Benny. Unfortunately, I found most of the stories boring and/or plain bad.

Gallifrey Audios
Overall thoughts: I'm enjoying them. It's a good combination of characters and I like the mid-80's Gallifrey type intrigue. The second series wasn't as good as the first, though it was nice having Romana 1 appear. By series 3 I feel like this storyline has been dragging on too long. Maybe they should have started with a brand new story.

UNIT Audios
Overall thoughts: It'd be better if the Brigadier came out of retirement. I just can't get into these new characters. I may not listen to the second series if they make one.

Cyberman Audios
Overall thoughts: So far these are nothing special. Great music (ala "Sword of Orion"), but not enough actual Cyber-stuff happening, and the whole android war story is pretty boring. Finally got good in the final episode. Hopefully the second series will be better (if they make one).

Judge Dredd Audios
Overall thoughts: I really like them even though some of the scores are a little low. I never knew much about Judge Dredd apart from the Stallone movie, but now I'm a bit of a fan. I just wish the quality of script/story was always as high as the first few on the list.
