| Only 10 of these shirts exist with this front and this back. Kate Mulgrew and the Stage Manager Chris has one as well as the seven of us.. Tim Hagan and Matt Lombardo have shirts with just the front. Matt allowed us to use this image for the shirts, so please don't repost it anywhere. | ||||||||||||||||

| Because of the admiration of I have for Kate Mulgrew, I was so thrilled to know she would be taking her one woman show to West Palm Beach, Fl. I set up a volunteering gig at the theatre and worked as usher for a couple of the performances. It was great fun! While the show was in WPB I had the chance to meet several women who shared my respect and love for Kate. I met Amy, Carol, and Fiona openign night and got to share a great experience with Fiona, Carol, and my wife at the opening night party. In the middle of the run I met Jessica(whom I knew from Totally Kate and had chatted with) and Laura. Then on the closing night I met Judith for the first time and got reaquainted with Amy and Carol. Over the next couple of years some of the seven of us got together at some city where "Tea" was playing. They are all listed on the shirt above. There was at least one of us at each of those cities. Cool huh? Anyway, we finally learned that Kate would be in Pasadena with Tea at Five and since I hadn't seen the show since WPB I decided to mkae it my business to get there. I am so glad I did cause it was a reunion for us all. This get-together, that took place over labor day weekend 2005, was the reason the above T-shirts were made. Carol and I were chatting and thought it cool to have something made to make this time special. I designed this shirt above. The image on the left is the front of the shirt, and the image on the right is the back. To explain the back: We all were coming from 7 different states sharing one bathroom at Fiona's apartment in LA. Needless to say this was a concern.7 women and 1 bathroom? You do the math. Amy and I were chatting and said to me "7 women sharing one bathroom, thank goodness we are seeing Kate. From that the back of the shirt was born. It was a great weekend, and the bathroom situation wasn't that bad afterall. |

| Why Kate Mulgrew? | ||||||||||||||||
| So, Being a Trekker; Trekkie (whichever side you butter your bread) has its good points and bad. Yeah, there's the teasing and the silly "live long and prosper" jokes (trust me I have had them all). There are a whole list of things we folks, who like to imagine a better world in our future, have to put up with. That being said, the trade off is being a part of a terrific fandom that truly embraces people from all walks of life and makes one feel like they belong somewhere. That is a big thing for some of us because I think a good portion of fans would consider themselves outcasts and nonconformists- in a good way, of course. I have been a fan of Star Trek for as long as I can remember, my mom was and is a die-hard trekkie. We all went to the movies and she even took to my first con when I was five. There was however a brief period of time where I was "too cool" for Star Trek. Basically, I couldn't get why they were bringing back the show with a bald guy and not Kirk, Spock, and especially McCoy(my favorite TOS character). Cut to my senior year in high school. I remember hearing all this hoopla about this NEW Star Trek show with a woman captain ( I totally missed the boat with DS9). Now for the record, it was my senior year and I was in the middle of this cool period. I didn't watch regularly, well who we kidding I didn't watch at all. Yes, I know I suck! Two years later, my family and I move to Florida and the local UPN aired repeats of Voyager on the weekends really late. Being the night owl that I was, I caught a few every once in a while. The first episode I distinctly remember is "The Gift". I remember thinking boy this actress, who I knew was in a movie I had liked called Remo Williams, seemed like she wasn't acting. She looked truly upset t o lose this crewmember. Isn't that odd, I thought to myself, I must be imagining that. Come to find out later Kate's performance in that episode was her tribute to Jennifer Lien. Cool! So that is when it happened. I was hooked to this husky voiced actress who had an uncanny likeless to Hepburn and this innate ability to pull you in with her talent. I became obsessive (shhhh don't tell anyone) I HAD to find any Voyager I could find and eventually I did. On Amazon I found used videos from Columbia House. I got like 18 tapes for 75 bucks. I locked myself in my room and spent a whole weekend watching the first two seasons of Voyager. By Now Voyager was in its 5th season and I just immersed myself in anythng I could find of Kate. I have been a fan ever since and respect and admiration just seems to grow. I have met Kate a number of times and each time she is both warm and generous with her fans. |
