Students select 5 of these traits, as the characteristics that they think are most important in a friendship.
Collect information on what they voted for. This will give us the characteristics of a friend that this class deems to be most important.
On the 'Five Top Qualities of a Friend' (p1), students are to rate themselves in each category on a scale of 1 to 10. The purpose of this self-assessment exercise is not to give each quality the same rating, but to identify perceived strengths and weaknesses in their interpersonal skills.

Prayer of St Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen
