Technology is a wonderful thing...except when equipment and/or systems go down and you can't do a thing!

As I have mentioned before, I live in the boonies...out in the sticks! Recently we have had some trouble with the telephone systems. I get "All circuits are busy now. Try your call again later." This tends to elevate my blood pressure just a tad.

Part of the reason for the poor telephone service is probably the weather. We have had lots and lots of rain and the ground is VERY wet. (That probably isn't a good thing for phone cables.) We have had violent thunderstorms with the rain as well, and I am not a brave soul who likes to stay on line with lightening flashing and striking all around. It makes me a little nervous.

In addition, my computer is beginning (did I say beginning? I mean continuing!) to protest about all of the hours I spend online. I had to wipe my hard drive AGAIN recently for the second time this year. I am prepared to do so again, if need be, before I can upgrade my system. Wish me LUCK!

Are You Painting the Living Room with a Paintbrush?

If you were a painter, you would have the option of using a brush, a roller, a power roller, or a power sprayer.

A brush is the right tool in certain circumstances. But, if that's the only tool you use, you won't make much money.

On the other hand, a power sprayer is good if the job requires only one color. These jobs may not pay as much as a custom job, but you can do more of them.

No matter what you are trying to do, you need the right tools for the job.

You also need the right training to use those tools effectively. While you may not do much damage with a brush, can you imagine the results of an inexperienced person behind the trigger of the sprayer?

Now you will find many people out there who think they neeed the sprayer, and they buy it. Look at this, it's soooo cool! Then they won't take the time to learn how to use it, so it just sits in the box in the corner. A total waste of money.

Find the right tool, and learn how to use it! Does it seem too hard? Will you just look at it as it stares at you from the corner; too afraid to try to tackle it's power?

That's OK. It's normal. I go through it all the time. Take a deep breath..Now Do It Anyway! Do It Now! You are not going to get anywhere just looking at it and dreaming how wonderful it's going to be. Get off your duff!

Now some people want to buy everything you will ever possibly need, and buy it right now. Now you have all this stuff that you don't know how to use. Now What?

Find out what tools you will need. Make a logical plan, and step by step, work your plan. This way you'll feel success at every step and be motivated to go on.

If you bite off more than you can chew, you'll be overwhelmed and paralyzed. You'll most likely want to throw in the towel and go get a real job.

So what does painting have to do with your business? Well, you CAN paint the living room with a paintbrush.

It will take a long time to finish the job, and the results may not be as good as you had hoped.

Many people starting off on the Net are not willing, or not able to buy the right tools for the job. You can do it this way, but just like the painter, it will take a long time and the results will not be as pretty.

It's tedious, time consuming and frustrating. Unless you have extreme determination, most people will just quit.

If you can spend a little money, your job will be easier and the results will be better. Just like the painter who moved to the roller.

Now if you are one of the fortunate ones who can afford the paint sprayer, you can go crazy. But I'm warning you, learn how to use it first or you will have a real mess on your hands!

But the person who has mastered the brush, then the roller, and then the sprayer will have a successful business for years to come.

There's alot to this Internet Business stuff. It takes time to learn each facet. Take it one step at a time. Be patient with yourself. We all have to go through it. You'll get there!
