Remember When Spam Was That Funny Food?

I remember when Spam was a kind of meat. Wow, what a difference a few years makes.

The stories of people getting reported left and right is way out of control.

No wonder everybody's middle name is Disclaimer.

I understand the need for Spam Police. Sometimes, they seem a little too rambunctious. Still, the need for them is clearly evident.

But there are others who are worse than this patrol.

I refer specifically to people who can't wait to holler "SPAM!!!!" They jump on this particular bandwagon faster than a New York Miinute. With or without the facts.

Recently, I was sent a note about spamming someone. Immediately taken aback, I thought: Who did I possibly spam? I don't harvest email addresses or any of the rest of it.

Praying I hadn't deleted the "offending message" I checked my "Sent" file. Thank goodness, I hadn't. Do you know who I ostensibly spammed?

Someone who sent me an offer. My offense?

I responded with thanks but at the moment I was buried with my own concerns. I naturally suggested he/she might like to take a look to see if there was interest. If not, fine. Thank you. Continued success.

That's Spam????? You can send whatever you want to me, but if I respond in kind you're calling security? What are you - mad at me for not accepting your offer?

People with honest gripes have every right to complain. I'm talking about what I perceive as the prune faced, ill-tempered, condescending folks that live for this stuff. "Who can I get in trouble today?"

A mind is a terrible thing to waste. To some people, this sort of finger-pointing is a kind of perverse power. Baloney. It's abusive.

I follow the rules to the best of my ability. If I make a mistake I'm the first one to apologize for it.

Months ago, one lady sent me a note about what she'd do "if this doesn't stop". I thought to myself: If WHAT doesn't stop? I'd never heard of her!

I (politely) wrote back that I had no earthly idea what she was talking about or who she was. I asked her to please send more information about what she received from me.

This is what I received: "If you spam me one more time I am reporting you".

If someone sends you a note telling you they believe you are spamming them, give me one intelligent reason you'd go ahead and do it again?

Was hers a comprehension problem or did I lose my mind and somebody forgot to tell me?

I received a third note. The email began with "I think I've resolved the problem and you'll be glad to know.............".

Turned out we belonged to the same online resource group that was making sign-up changes. In the meantime, she'd asked to be removed from the list. Apparently, though, (ha, ha) something went wrong with the process.

Well, of course, I was very glad to know. I was also completely disgusted, no infuriated, at the high-handed, nasty tone taken in the first place. No facts, but plenty of attitude.

But, oh, I see. Now we can be friendly? "Ha, ha", should have been an apology. Never got one. She had time to send vicious emails but none to say she was sorry about the confusion.

I also got the distinct impression she was trying to tell me in a jovial way she was letting me off the hook.

That's nice. I have only one question. For what?

I'm wondering if your readers have had problems with Nitroclicks? When a referral didn't show up on my stat page. I tried to contact them. I tried every e-mail address that they have on their site and in their E-mails but every one came back as an "non-address". Including their own support address on the site.

Has anybody else had this problem. As I close in on having enough money in my account to be paid, I'm wondering if ANYBODY has been paid by them? Maybe your readers could help me out?

Here is a tip you may not be familiar with!
After you have dragged an icon into the "Send To" window that icon name will appear on your "Send To" column for all of your desk top icons.

Open Start-
click on "Run"
in the "open" slot type-SendTo
click on "OK"
a window will open-the icons are all of the items listed on box that comes up when you right or double click on any icon on the desk top.
You can now drag any destination icon you wish to place in the "Send To" in that box. You can also drag out of the window or delete an item to remove it from the "send To" column.
After you have dragged an icon into the "Send To" window that icon name will appear on your "Send To" column.
