Adequate monsoon devastates large parts of Central IndiaJABALPUR: An adequate monsoon and a continued prospect of fine weather has devastated large parts of central India. The regional economy is dependent on annual drought aid to the tune of Rs 1200 crores. The absence of this crucial fund inflow will slow the economic growth to less than 0.2%, said economist Bipul Sethi in a symposium here today. Contractors and traders have blamed the meteorological policy of the government and have called for immediate redefinition of drought. Meanwhile, the Chief Ministers of the central Indian states have sought to assess an extra levy on sales of all umbrella and rain-related products to provide immediate relief to all contractors. Study finds link between baldness and golfHYDERABAD: A study by a team of sports anthropologists from Osmania University revealed close links between baldness and golf. The team found that the intensity of the desire to play golf increases exponentially with the lowering of hair density. The findings also revealed that bulk of the subjects under study showed utter disgust when a game of golf was compared to the childhood games of marbles and danda-gulli. The study also found that the self-esteem of the people increased by a factor of seven after they started playing golf. The Mid Life Crisis Association of India (MLCAI) is now seriously contemplating making golf club membership mandatory for its members. Home Page |
