The Light

Sitting in the dark wondering,
As the world around me is thundering,
Is this the voice of God warning me?
Or is it Satan laughing with glee?

A glorious light snuffed out oh too soon,
And my feelings are lost in the gloom,
Needing just a last embrace from the one,
Who, when he wanted could bring out the sun.

Life is too short to play games with hearts,
This I learned all too well in small parts,
Lessons come to us in the hardest ways,
Hopefully we hold them near in our darkest days.

One light taken from this earthly plain,
Relieved at last of his loneliness and pain,
Sleep well with the spirits of your kin,
While I sit in the dark weeping within.
