Stolen Moments
She steals from her bed in the mists of morning
light,
To wait for the one who has stolen her heart and soul,
Her heart quickens as she slips into her chair silently,
Then rubs her sleepy eyes to help regain her sight.
She sits and ponders whiles she waits for him to appear;
Did he have a good night? Will he be here today?
When suddenly on the unerring blue screen he comes to her,
His keystrokes exclaiming "Good morning!" see nothing to fear.
He shines to her through words in stolen moments of time,
She smiles as they rekindle their days and nights,
She comforts him as he soothes her with each keystroke of love,
Knowing the right things to say in each letter, each line.
He caresses her as he sits far across the seas typing his love,
She can feel his touch on her body as he says the words,
Her pulse races as he devours her willingly in this private space,
It seems he is there and her heart soars like a dove.
Too soon their time together is over and she saddens,
It is not enough at times, she wants more but yet is still happy,
He loves her truly through these long miles of phone lines,
And that is enough to sustain her, so her heart is still gladdened.
He tells her in those quiet words, "I have to work, I must go."
She tells him she knows and that she will see him again soon,
The real world is again showing its face and she sighs aloud,
Then he makes it all right with a "I love you, and never let go?"
After he's gone she gets up from her haven in front of the screen,
Wakes the house, feeds them and gets them on their way,
She is constantly smiling and wondering at how lucky she is,
That even with his distance her life is complete and serene.
Even across oceans and phone lines there is love to be had,
Never doubt that my heart can span the miles that we are apart,
It is a gift that God gave us, his children, that we must share,
My love for you does leap those spaces and lines; always be glad!
