Silent
Tears
Silent tears trickle down her cheeks,
As she sits contemplating her life,
Stuck in traffic again she seeks,
The reason why it's burdened with strife.
Never has true love come her way,
Every man she dared to love left,
Starting with the dad who didn't stay,
Those that followed left her bereft.
In high school one held her heart,
His time on earth was cut too short,
On a motorcycle he would depart,
A trucker asleep was the official report.
Into her twenties she went with ease,
A longhaired beauty they often said,
He was rich and she was eager to please,
But his only goal was to get into her bed.
The thirties came round way too fast,
She saw her life flash, it wasn't pretty,
Then one day he walked in unsurpassed,
Tall, dark, handsome and oh so witty.
She thought she had found the one who,
Would end her days of never knowing,
What love could be like, so pure and true,
A baby between them had her simply glowing.
A ring was offered, please share my life,
Together we will become perfectly happy,
I will be your husband and you my wife,
Marry me please; let's be quick and snappy.
Those words "I Do" seem to change the rules,
Oh, she thought she had it made, no worry,
A handsome, gentle man... he had the tools,
Working became her life; it passed in a hurry.
One day in the grasp of wisdom and
light,
She saw the error she had made
that day,
When she said yes, it began her
plight,
Thinking she was loved... instead
led astray.
He told her in a fit of ire one
sad eve,
That he never loved her, it was a
sham,
I was going to go away, you're so
naive,
Instead you got pregnant, so here
I am.
She buried herself deep within
imaginary walls,
Thought she had found solace, it
was not the case,
Time to part and go our ways, no
more brawls,
Freedom is too distant, need a
happier place.
She thought she found love on the
Internet,
A man across the sea felt her hurt
and sorrow,
Made her promises of love and
forget,
Her unhappiness. You'll see on the
morrow.
Yet again she found it was all
just a ruse,
Another lie to add to the rest of
them,
Trusting now has become a major
bruise,
Men just cannot see the
transparent gem.
My life I have laid out on a plate
for all to see,
Its contents so empty, dark and
full of pain,
Lord, is this what you have in
mind for me?
Love... Can it be mine? Let me
finally ascertain?
Where is the one to dry my silent
tears?
