Whatever type of mountain bike you go for, it will cost upwards of 300 if you want it to be reliable and last. Do not buy a bike that is fitted with suspenstion at this price level(300). If you are after a bike with front suspension expect to pay 500 upwards for a bike that will last. Rear suspension is not needed unless you will be dooing some crazy downhill a huge jumps.
All bikes may look alike but they differ significantly. Basically, spending more gets you:
            Lighter weight,
            A more lively, responsive frame,
            More precise gear shifting,
braking and handling,
            Longer lasting,
more serviceable componentary
.
Tip
:

only buy a bike from a shop that will let you ride the bike before purcase.
