Bicycle Commute
Photos from November 2001
Bellevue to downtown Seattle
The photo on the right is the scene from our driveway. All these photos were taken mid-day on a Sunday, so you'll see far fewer cars than I do when I ride this route.
The photo on the left shows the beginning portion of the ride, which is through suburban streets. Here, as you look to the east and the rising sun, you can see Lake Sammamish.
After riding through neighborhoods, on this ride I turned down a short trail that runs along Robinswood Park. The photo on the right shows how this trail runs along the woods.
Riding through the BCC campus is a much quieter route than riding past the Eastgate Shopping Center. I use the BCC route when I am concerned about traffic and visibility.

The little photo on the right shows downtown off in the distance, still about ten miles away.
I've now descended the hill between BCC and Factoria, and am ready to enter the I-90 Trail. Can you see where the trail head is? Motorists can't either, so bicycles surprise them when they approach this intersection. During commuter hours, this intersection is very busy, especially in the evening.
