Training sessions for the
TABD conference were conducted at O'Hare Airport on Monday, 28 October and
Wednesday, 30 October 2002. These photos were taken at the Wednesday
session, in which three scenarios were played out. |

|
|
|
In the first scenario,
protesters locked arms and blocked the street, but were peaceful. In each
subsequent scenario, protesters took a more active role by taunting
officers and throwing objects. |

Officers demonstrated how
well they could work in squads and platoons, sometimes shoulder to
shoulder with officers they had never met before. |

The Mounted Patrol Unit demonstrated their
ability to move the crowd effectively.

New vehicles deployed during the conference
included the video surveillance van provided and staffed by the office of
Information and Strategic Services.

Officers lined the curbs on
Washington to keep the marchers under close surveillance and ultimately
under control. |
